Eclipse Air are proud to have been involved with a project that is making a difference to the lives of young people in the area
Matt Lippold, director of Langtoft-based Eclipse Air, lent his support to the project, which saw teams of volunteers come together to transform a field on Mudhills Park in Beverley into the Cherry Tree Youth Club.
The youth club provides a safe space for around 90 youngsters aged between 10 and 18 every week, as well as adults up to the age of 25 with special educational needs.
Over recent years, the youth club, which was established in 2016, had been meeting in a gazebo in the park after being left without a home following the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, thanks to the help of the DIY SOS team, led by presenter Nick Knowles, and the volunteers, who were also joined by stars from the TV show Gladiators, the youth club now has a building it can call home.
The Cherry Tree Youth Club's new home features a communal area, kitchen, meeting room, storage area, outdoor gym and cycle path.
The episode featuring the emotional transformation was aired on BBC1 over Christmas.
Matt said he was happy to be part of the project.
"A friend of mine owns a plumbing business in Beverley, and he gave me a call and explained what was happening and said they needed someone to help install the air conditioning. I was more than happy to take part, and I probably joined the project halfway through."
"It was crazy having all the trades people on site at the same time, but everyone worked together really well. Despite being quite stressful at times, everyone had a smile on their faces, and it was a great experience to be involved with.
The presenters were all very nice and the Gladiators were happy to help out. I feel very proud to have been a part of it and it is nice to have given something back to the community and to help make a difference to the lives of the young people."
